Journalism Summer Homework – Number Two

1. Read chapter five in the online textbook.

2. Be familiar with the vocabulary there.  (hint hint – there might be a quiz on that the first week of school)

3. Go to the front page of word press (  Find Three blogs that you like( there are over 350 thousand bloggers on WordPress, click on tags if you are looking for more), and post a link to them in the comments. Tell us why you like one of them.

I like this blog because recently I flew for the first time. I thought it was fascinating and if you think about it, almost impossible that something so big can go so high and fast. My grandfather also flew in a B-17 similar to the one shown on the blog.

    I also like

GoodMusicAllDay is one of the music blogs I was talking about it my comment on the online journalism question. GoodMusicAllDay is a basic wordpress blog that features a few articles daily that have new music, that is mainly hip-hop, and other music news. The blog is run by a few college students who have turned what was once a simple hobby into somewhat of a job. They have sponsored many different concerts and have many artists coming to their site to release new music. I personally like it because of the constant stream of new music I get from it. One plus being the fact that most of the music they feature is free. (adds some comedic effect in their technology posts) (post on Michelle Bachmann had me laughing for a while)

This blog is all about the latest news in fashion; my personal favorite type of journalism. I enjoyed reading this blog because it not only told about the current fashion trends and what was fresh off the runway, but it also showed the true art that can be found in fashion. The blog also incorporates a bit of humor into the posts while still delivering the news on this weeks trends. (my cousin in CA, keeps me updated on family news) (news blog about ridiculous things people do)

This is one hell of an interesting blog. Let’s face it, most rappers bring up a whole load of controversy. 0Tyler the Creator, who recently won best new artist at the VMA’s over other rappers such as Wiz and bands such as Foster the People has been blown into this new land of contoversy.GLAAD a big fighter in the discrimmination of gays and lesbians is furious that Tyler won this award. His album Goblin spits out many anti gay slurs. It is interesting that this arguement has been going on for the longest period of time. Eminem was constantly critisized for his anti gay raps.It just brings up the debate of if rapping is an art, can’t it be done in any way the artist please or is there a certain line? China doesn’t always agree.) at some point you’ll find yourself laughing.)

I really liked this blog because I disagreed with a lot of what it said, but agreed with its overall message. There are many places that make me feel good and that I like to stick around in, and others that for some reason or another give me the creeps.
Still, the author said that she did not like Wal-Mart and big office supply stores. I proceeded to read the comments and found out that all bloggers seem to have a profound hatred for Wal-Mart, as well as a planned righteous campaign to rid the world of its evil. While I admit some things at Wal-Mart are not of great quality, for generic things, Wal-Mart is the American Dream. That’s right, IT IS the American Dream. You can say I’m wrong, and continue to tell me how Wal-Mart is evil, but at the end of the day, you really can’t beat a 12-pack of Gatorade for $3.99. (this is pretty cool) (who doesn’t love Star Wars! A great story of someone’s younger life)

This blog is probably the nerdiest/geekiest site on the world wide web. It not only provides constant news coverage of many of my favorite tech but streams conventions such as ces2011 to show to all the new things technology has to offer. Gizmodo goes beyond boring tech news by giving news a bit more flavor and filling slow days with nerdy news to befit our inner neediness. Gizmodo goes on to define tech-centered culture in a whole different way.

This blog is the best Redsox recap and analyse site that i found, and the redsox are one of my favorite things to read about so this was an obvious choice for me.
This blog is about the NFC which i find to be so interesting because besides the partroits and the stealers, the 49ers are my favorite team so it was good to read up on them, along with their competition.
