For Wednesday, please read the first five vignettes in The House on Mango Street. These are on pages 3-13. Please select one image from each vignette to share in class on Wednesday. For example, from the first vignette, I might select “Our house would be white with trees around it, a great big yard and grass growing without a fence” because I think this image embodies part of the American Dream. On Wednesday, we’ll discuss these images and then discuss metaphors and similes.

What do you expect from this book? What do you think it will be like?
